What decision can you make that would change your life the most?

At 21 years old, the decision to go back to school changed everything.

I literally just wrote down "get a HS diploma and go to college."

I didn't know how I was going to make it happen. I didn't even finish sophomore year, but I didn't care because I knew that if I started to question my decision then I would stay stuck and anything was better than where I was.

I started to dream of what it would be like to actually have an education and a career. I decided to go for it all.

The next 5 years were full of ups and downs. I got married, earned a Masters degree and became an Army Officer.

I checked the box off to create a legacy for my sons, but life is 50/50 and before I finished school we suffered a tremendous loss.

James, my husband, died in a motorcycle accident in 2014. This. is. still. hard. to. write. out.

Nothing would ever be the same and yet if I didn't make the decision to keep working towards my goals then everything would stay the way it was.

I decided to get up and off the couch that I spent two months just crying on and get back to work.

People around me were surprised. They judged me for not "grieving" longer.

What they didn't realize is that it is possible to DO while you are grieving. I could still get up and work towards finishing school.

Everyday I made decisions for the future life I wanted to have, even when I was hurting or just wanted to lay in bed all day.

That decision changed my life. It showed me that I could feel bad and still win.

What decision can you make today for you today?

Sometimes it's a decision like going back to school. Or maybe it's making the decision to take the promotion even when you're afraid. Other times it's a harder decision like leaving a relationship or marriage.

Whatever it is, know that the only thing between you and the life you want is a decision.

Make the decision. Change your life.
