There will be welcomed change and very uncomfortable change. Those that have grown through seasons of change know that resisting unwelcomed change can cause suffering and uncertainty.
Our brain doesn't like change. It views any kind of change as a threat to our safety. It will try its best to have us stay where we are based out of fear. But when you understand how your brain works and how you make decisions, you can get through any kind of change and dictate what result you want out of it.
Even when it wasn't planned, and yes even when it doesn't feel good.
Take, for example, a relationship. When I work with clients who are going through a divorce or breakup, many times they are unwilling to accept that circumstance. They become obsessed with trying to keep things the same.
Obsessed with avoiding the pain and rejection. Their A-line (the actions they are taking) is being completely driven by fear. They forget to work in the T-line (the thoughts they are thinking on purpose) and the result is always something that they don't want-- they create what they were trying to avoid most.
This happens because most of us don't realize that we have a choice. We just get to decide if we want to feel rejection (or any other feeling) and we also get to decide what we make it mean or not mean about ourselves.
When we can come to terms with acceptance of rejection or any kind of change in our lives and we become willing to FEEL it, then its something we can get through powerfully.
Notice I said powerfully. That's because when our minds are managed even when we are going through intense change, we still get to control our experience.
If you are going through any kind of change in your life, DIRECT your focus by asking yourself:
"What's for ME here? What's the lesson in this? How is this actually something I DO want? How could this actually be the best thing that has happened to me?"
These are some of the questions I asked myself and actually answered when I was IN IT in my marriage and going to finalize a divorce.
The POWER of standing in my truth, taking responsibility and not apologizing for what I wanted-- CHANGED EVERYTHING. And my relationship today, right NOW-- is completely blowing my mind. I thought it would end, and instead it is honestly in one of best places in the last almost 8 years!
So see what direction some of those questions take your brain to. Actually answer the questions. And see how you remove the boulder of fear right in front of you and allow your brain to focus on possibility.
That my friend, is the Art of Possibility. It's available at any time, at any age, and with any circumstance (even with a planned move, divorce paperwork ....anything!).
The art of possibility is the work of my life.
Going from where you are (in any area) to where you want to BE is possible.
Start with creating that belief that it is for you, too.
I believe in you.
