I hope you had the happiest Holidays!
I know that some holidays don't feel as festive as others- maybe because you are missing someone or you are going through significant change, no matter what it is, the one thing you do have control over is how you think about the holidays.
I found myself feeling lonely and I had to check in with myself on what thoughts were circling around. I was able to move my thoughts up a "ladder" and find better feeling ones.
Since I have been actively managing my mind and coaching myself it has been easier, but it wasn't always that way.
I remember feeling so lonely, especially after James went to Heaven, and back then I had no way of knowing how to manage my mind.
Instead, I would cry and go and lay in bed all day. Which of course kept me feeling worse. Now I look back and remember all the times I would pray and ask to feel better.
The thing is, I was so focused on not feeling better.
And because that's where my focus was, I created more feelings of not better.
It took me some time to learn to use my mind as a focal point for what I do want, not what I don't want or don't have.
It takes some time to get this into motion in the beginning if you've never done intentional thought work before, but I promise it's the work of your life that will yield the most beneficial ROIs of your lifetime.
When feeling unwanted emotions, just know that you are just ONE thought away to feeling better.
Even when your brain wants to argue it's not true, it is.
Trust me. I've been able to cultivate this trust within with just one thought at a time. You can too.
It is always with what you are thinking.
Even if you can just find a thought that is 10 degrees higher, you will start to feel better.
What is that thought going to be?
Find it. Feel it.
Thinking of you and your wellbeing.
